Fredericton Women’s Recreational Hockey League Opens

Women’s hockey is seeing activity at both recreational and collegiate levels. Fredericton has launched its first recreational women’s league for players over 30, welcoming adult beginners, returning players and those seeking less-competitive ice time. Penn State, coming off consecutive series sweeps, is preparing to face a physical RIT team and is emphasizing disciplined play, power-play execution and stronger starts. Minnesota and Minnesota-Duluth will each be short-handed for their series as players leave to prepare for the IIHF Women’s World Championship, putting both teams’ depth to the test. Chatham enters the 2026–27 season with new head coach Alex Ochterbeck, 17 returning players and a large group of newcomers.
