Gazdag lifts Revolution past NYCFC, 2-1
The New England Revolution rallied to defeat New York City FC 2-1 at Citi Field, moving into third place in the Eastern Conference with 40 points. Carles Gil gave New England an early lead in the 12th minute by converting a penalty awarded for a handball. NYCFC controlled much of the match and equalized in the 71st minute through Luighi, but substitute Dániel Gazdag scored in the third minute of stoppage time for his first goal since joining the Revolution. Gazdag had briefly appeared to score moments earlier, but that effort was ruled offside. The victory gave New England a 2-1-0 record on its current road trip, which concludes Sunday at Orlando City.
