Universities Suspend Fraternities Amid Hazing Investigations
West Virginia University immediately placed its Lambda Chi Alpha chapter on interim suspension after multiple hazing reports, including allegations referenced in a campus warning earlier in the week. The university cited alleged student conduct code violations, but the details have not been publicly disclosed. The chapter cannot hold social events, recruit, run new-member programs or participate in university-sponsored activities while the matter is pending a hearing or other resolution; it has five days to seek a review. Separately, the University of Arizona suspended six fraternities amid misconduct investigations and paused activities across its 21 Interfraternity Council chapters while officials investigated reports involving nearly half of them. Arizona also required fraternity advisers to attend meetings, and chapters in good standing could return to that status afterward.
