Vehicle Kills Two at Wichita Soccer Game

A child and an adult were killed Saturday, Oct. 17, 2026, after a vehicle drove onto a youth soccer field during a game at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kansas. Victims were declared dead at the scene. Multiple others were injured and taken to hospitals; authorities have not specified how many or how serious. First responders rushed to 2999 N. Greenwich Road after 911 calls began around 3:25 p.m. CT. Capt. Aaron Moses of the Wichita Police Department told a Saturday afternoon briefing the driver was taken into custody and two juveniles were reportedly inside the vehicle. Police said they were investigating a mass casualty incident involving a vehicle and there was no further ongoing threat at this time. A witness told local television a black pickup truck came plowing through the youth soccer fields, hitting multiple people before stopping 100-200 yards down the fields, with dozens of emergency responders giving CPR and rendering aid. Moses said, “This is a tragedy.” The City of Wichita canceled all events at the complex until further notice and asked that people keep affected individuals and families in their thoughts and prayers. Identities and how the incident occurred remain unreleased; the investigation continues.
