Georgia extends gas tax suspension through November 30
Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp extended the state of emergency and suspension of the state motor fuel excise tax through Nov. 30, saying the move will offer relief to drivers during Thanksgiving travel amid global market volatility and high fuel prices. The suspension waives taxes of 33.3 cents per gallon of gasoline and 37.3 cents per gallon of diesel; AAA figures cited by state officials put Georgia prices about 63 cents below the national average for regular gas and 61 cents below for diesel. Related emergency measures also suspend commercial vehicle weight limits and penalties for using off-road dyed diesel on public roads.
