Georgia Southern Rifle Upsets No. 1 West Virginia

Georgia Southern’s rifle team made program history by edging top-ranked, two-time defending national champion West Virginia 4,740-4,738, while also defeating UAB and Georgia Military College. The Eagles rallied in air rifle to overcome a late deficit, and the result marked the highest-ranked opponent they have beaten. Georgia Southern also won the Dale McNamara Invitational women’s golf tournament, overcoming an eight-stroke final-round deficit; Margaux Brejo claimed the individual title. In swimming and diving, the Eagles dominated a home tri-meet against SCAD and Converse, scoring 213 points and earning 14 gold medals.
