Georgia Tech Defeats Mercer 44-11, Earns First Win

Georgia Tech earned its first win of the season Saturday, defeating Mercer 44-11 to avoid its first 0-3 start in 37 years. Justice Haynes powered the Yellow Jackets with 141 rushing yards and three touchdowns, while quarterback Alberto Mendoza threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns. Georgia Tech pulled away with 10 points in the final two minutes of the first half and added three second-half touchdowns, though its slow start and several penalties and overturned scores underscored lingering offensive concerns. The Yellow Jackets, now 1-2, open ACC play at Stanford next week, while Mercer falls to 2-2 and visits Abilene Christian.
