Ghana Chief of Staff urges transparent public-private partnerships
Calls for greater transparency and accountability surfaced across government and public institutions. At the 2026 Africa Public Sector Conference in Accra, Ghanaian Chief of Staff Julius Debrah said fair, open public-private partnerships are vital to protect public spending and deliver infrastructure on time; he also urged public servants to share knowledge. In Ghana’s Bawku West District, officials invited residents to scrutinize the assembly’s work and help shape planning and service delivery, while stressing that accountability includes acknowledging shortcomings. A separate analysis of Ghanaian football argued that limited financial disclosure and the exclusion of the National Sports Authority from reform talks weaken independent oversight and discourage sponsors. In Beaumont, Texas, a city council member called for answers from the school district on student performance and curriculum access; the district said its superintendent had passed the certification exam, but other concerns remain.
