Glaukos Reports Durable Three-Year Epioxa Trial Results

Glaukos reported three-year follow-up results from a Phase 3 extension study of Epioxa, its epithelium-on corneal cross-linking treatment for keratoconus. After a single treatment and without further intervention, treated eyes maintained a 1.9-diopter improvement in maximum corneal curvature; 29% gained at least two lines of visual acuity and 20% gained at least three. The extension reported no serious or treatment-related adverse events and no discontinuations due to adverse events, though the therapy’s prescribing information lists other potential reactions. The small study followed 38 eyes from 35 patients, and the results support the possibility of durable disease stabilization. Coverage differed on the stock’s response: one report said shares fell amid valuation concerns and insider selling, while another reported a gain after the results.
