GlobalFoundries, Marvell Expand SiGe Output at Vermont Fab for AI Networks
GlobalFoundries and Marvell Technology expanded their multiyear manufacturing partnership to increase silicon-germanium (SiGe) production at GlobalFoundries’ Burlington, Vermont, facility. The capacity will support optical networking products—including pluggable optical transceivers, near-packaged optics and co-packaged optics—needed to move growing volumes of data through AI data centers. SiGe technology enables high-speed, energy-efficient signal transmission, with GlobalFoundries citing current support for 200G-per-lane connectivity and a roadmap toward faster generations. The companies did not disclose financial terms, specific capacity figures or a detailed production timeline, while shares of both companies rose after the announcement.
