Golden Knights Extend Captain Mark Stone Through 2029
The Vegas Golden Knights signed captain Mark Stone to a two-year contract extension worth $9 million annually, keeping him under contract through the 2028-29 season. The deal is a modest reduction from the $9.5 million annual value of his current contract and prevents the 34-year-old winger from reaching unrestricted free agency after this season. Stone is coming off a career-best 73-point season in 60 games and has been a key offensive, defensive and emotional leader for Vegas since arriving from Ottawa in 2019. He helped the franchise win its first Stanley Cup in 2023 and led the Golden Knights to the Final again last season, though they lost to Carolina in six games. Injuries, including multiple back surgeries and other significant setbacks, remain the primary concern as Vegas relies on Stone to stay healthy while pursuing another championship.
