GPS Detour Helps Save Georgia Family of 14
A GPS detour led Alabama driver Casey Sparks to a Georgia home engulfed in flames late at night. Sparks and the homeowner helped evacuate James and Larita Burke, their 11 children and a grandchild, while Sparks’ 13-year-old son called 911. Fire officials said the family escaped safely and that Sparks’ quick actions likely prevented fatalities; the home was destroyed, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Burkes are seeking housing as they rebuild, after fostering hundreds of children over the years.
