Vermont house explosion that killed two ruled accidental, caused by propane leak

A house explosion in Granville, Vermont, killed Liam O’Sullivan, 20, and his mother, Sarah O’Sullivan, 46, both of Essex Junction, and injured three other adults. Vermont State Police classified the blast as accidental and determined that a propane leak caused the explosion at a home on Connecticut Trail. Shiela Hammond, 69, of Granville, remains hospitalized in critical condition, while two other injured people suffered minor injuries. The explosion was reported around 7:45 p.m. Saturday, and investigators said it was not suspicious; earlier reports considered whether a grill used during a birthday gathering may have been involved.
