Grays Harbor Collision Sinks Nora J; Three Rescued

A collision between the Tabitha and Nora J occurred about 22 miles offshore of Grays Harbor, Washington, around 6:40 a.m. on July 21, 2026. The Nora J sustained significant damage, took on water, and eventually sank at about 300 feet of water after dewatering efforts failed, while the Tabitha remained mostly intact and aided in the response. Coast Guard crews from Station Grays Harbor and Air Station Astoria rescued all three crew members from the Nora J and transferred them to Station Grays Harbor; no injuries were reported. The weather at the scene was 3-foot seas with 7 mph winds and a water temperature around 58 degrees, and the Coast Guard noted there were no reports of pollution.
