Great Falls set for Montana’s first 140.6-mile IRONMAN
IRONMAN will bring Montana’s first full-distance triathlon to Great Falls on Aug. 15, 2027, adding the event to a North American schedule that includes 10 full-distance and 36 70.3 races. Athletes will complete a 2.4-mile swim in the Missouri River, a 112-mile bike course and a 26.2-mile run, with the course showcasing the region’s river, prairie and Rocky Mountain views. Local tourism officials expect visitors to boost hotel, restaurant and other tourism spending, though the event may also bring traffic disruptions and added demands on public services. The race is part of a 2027 season spanning March through December; the 70.3 World Championship in Chattanooga is scheduled separately for August 28–29.
