Greenpeace activists occupy Woodside platform to protest Scott Reef project
Four Greenpeace Australia Pacific activists climbed and occupied a floating production unit at Woodside’s Scarborough gas project off Western Australia, launching from the Rainbow Warrior to protest Woodside’s proposed Browse development near Scott Reef. Woodside temporarily shut down the unit after the action. Greenpeace says the proposal could involve up to 57 wells and threaten the reef’s wildlife and contribute to climate harms; the group is urging the Australian government to stop the project. The protest was peaceful, and activists said they intended to remain on the platform as long as possible.
