Greensboro Fall Colors Expected Near Peak November 10
Shorter days and reduced sunlight trigger the breakdown of chlorophyll in leaves, revealing yellow and orange pigments that were present all along; red and purple pigments also emerge as trees prepare for winter. Rising temperatures can delay fall color and shorten the period of peak foliage, while wildfire smoke and haze may further affect the display. In North Carolina, color is developing first in the mountains, with Greensboro’s foliage expected to peak around November 10.
