H.I.G. Capital taps former Blackstone executive to lead Asia expansion

H.I.G. Capital has appointed Younghee Choi as Head of Asia within its Capital Formation Group, based in Hong Kong, to lead fundraising and investor relations across the region. Choi, a former Blackstone senior executive with more than 15 years in private markets, will help broaden H.I.G.’s Asian limited partner base and connect regional investors with strategies across private equity, credit, real assets, and related platforms. The firm emphasizes Choi’s established relationships with institutional investors and private wealth channels as key to expanding its presence in Asia. H.I.G. manages about $75 billion in capital, with a portfolio spanning over 100 companies and more than 400 investments since 1993, generating substantial regional sales. The appointment signals a broader push by H.I.G. to capitalize on growing demand for Asian fundraising among pensions, sovereign funds, insurers, and family offices. Industry observers note the move strengthens H.I.G.’s on-the-ground footprint in Hong Kong as it scales its global fundraising operations.
