Harrier, F-117 Join Museum Displays; A-12 Planned
The Hickory Aviation Museum has assembled a two-seat TAV-8B Harrier II at Hickory Regional Airport, where it joins a single-seat Harrier and an engine in a display honoring the Harrier community. In Huntsville, the U.S. Space & Rocket Center is preparing a new permanent mount for its restored Lockheed A-12 Oxcart, with installation expected no earlier than spring 2027. The Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum has added its first F-117A Nighthawk, serial number 85-0818, to the collection and put it on display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center in Virginia. Nicknamed “The Overachiever,” the stealth aircraft is notable for having flown in all four conflicts involving the F-117; Lockheed Martin restored and demilitarized it for exhibition.
