Hartford Man Charged in Fatal Hit-and-Run

Hartford police arrested Hector Rodriguez in connection with a June 27 hit-and-run that killed pedestrian Keyshia M. Ortiz-Benitez, 31. Investigators say Ortiz-Benitez was struck on Ledyard Street near Wawarme Avenue and later died at a hospital; the driver fled southbound. Rodriguez surrendered after detectives identified him and obtained an arrest warrant. He faces charges including second-degree manslaughter, evading responsibility involving death, operating a motor vehicle while under suspension and illegally tinted windows, and was held on $100,000 bond.
