Hunger Action Month Campaigns Expand Nationwide
During Hunger Action Month, a broad coalition of food banks and partners are mobilizing nationwide through donations, fundraisers, and community events. The Fresh Market teams with Feeding America to round up at registers in September, directing 90% of funds to local partner banks and aiming to exceed last year’s $155,000. WayForward Resources opened with a 35,000-pound food donation from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to support Dane County’s rising food insecurity. Fundraising includes the Post-Op Pitmasters’ inaugural barbecue for Hogs for the Cause at Our Lady of the Lake, and Ozarks Food Harvest’s Hunger Action Month activities to fund weekend backpack meals for thousands of children. State and regional campaigns highlight matching gifts and drive events—from Wyoming’s $40,000 match to boost donations to Central Virginia’s Play Your Part alignment and multiple local drives in Indiana and New York. Additional efforts call for volunteers and donations to sustain weekend backpack programs, mobile pantries, and community drives, emphasizing stories of families affected by hunger, with library, school, church, and business participation nationwide.
