Prince William Launches Nationwide Suicide Prevention Sports Toolkit
Prince William and the Royal Foundation have launched On Your Side, a nationwide toolkit designed to make suicide prevention part of sporting culture at every level. The free resources help players, coaches, volunteers, families and spectators recognize warning signs, start difficult conversations and connect people with support before they reach a crisis. Backed by more than 70 organizations, including the Football Association, Premier League, Team GB and British Cycling, the initiative is being promoted by sports figures such as Harry Kane, George Russell, Kelly Holmes and Laura and Jason Kenny. William says sport can reach people who may never seek help through traditional mental-health services, particularly men, for whom suicide is the leading cause of death under age 50 in the UK. The launch coincides with World Suicide Prevention Day, and major sporting bodies are expected to incorporate the toolkit into their policies and practices.
