Parents Face Arraignment After Gun at Daycare

A toddler brought a loaded, holstered handgun to Children’s World Early Learning Center in Canton, Michigan, on Sept. 28 and pulled it from a backpack. Staff intervened, and no one was injured; police said there was no ongoing threat. One parent was arrested, and later reports said both parents were scheduled for arraignment, though reports differed on a parent’s identity and employment. Police said the gun was not a service weapon, and the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office reviewed the case. The daycare disenrolled the family and added precautions, including backpack checks.
