Texas Neglect Cases Lead to Seizure of Over 120 Dogs
Two animal-neglect cases in Texas led to the removal of more than 120 dogs. In Rockdale, Dogtown Ranch and Sanctuary closed after 82 dogs were surrendered during a week-long effort involving authorities and the Brandywine Valley SPCA; the sanctuary’s 69-year-old owner, Angela Sera, was charged with misdemeanor cruelty after veterinary findings documented longstanding unmet medical and nutritional needs in a surrendered dog. In north Houston, deputies and the Houston SPCA rescued 45 Chihuahua-mix dogs from a mobile home, where many had infections and other medical problems; one dog was critically ill, and four chickens and a pig were also seized. The Houston case remains under investigation, and officials have not announced any charges.
