BYU Medical School Gains Preliminary Accreditation for 2027 Launch
Brigham Young University’s School of Medicine has received preliminary accreditation from the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, clearing it to recruit students and launch its M.D. program in July 2027. Applications for the inaugural class of 60 students are expected to open in the coming weeks. Intermountain Health will be the school’s primary clinical affiliate. Students will initially use renovated space on BYU’s West Campus, the former Provo High School site, while a permanent school building is planned there, with construction expected to begin in 2027. BYU says the program will combine rigorous medical training with a faith-centered emphasis on service and caring for patients.
