Vatican Says Pope Leo Needs No Further Cancer Treatment
The Vatican says Pope Leo XIV’s lung cancer was localized and follow-up tests after surgery showed he needs no further treatment. The 71-year-old pope had the lower lobe of his right lung removed and was discharged four days later. He has returned to public duties, thanking worshippers at his first general audience since the operation. The Vatican has not confirmed whether his planned November trip to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru will proceed as scheduled.
