Lexington Nursing Home Evacuates 100-Plus Residents After Outage
About 180 residents—more than 100, according to officials—were evacuated Saturday from CareOne, a nursing and rehabilitation center in Lexington, Massachusetts, after recurring electrical problems created safety concerns. Because systems including sewage depended on the building’s power, officials ordered it de-energized while utility crews and fire inspectors worked to address the issue. Residents were moved to other care facilities or found temporary housing with help from family and friends; a maintenance worker injured while trying to restore power was expected to recover. Officials had not said when the facility would reopen.
