Police Close Panettiere Death Probe After Overdose Ruling

Greenville police have closed their investigation into Hayden Panettiere’s death, ruling it accidental based on the medical examiner’s findings and the investigation. The 36-year-old actress died in August after being found unresponsive at an apartment in Greenville, South Carolina. Toxicology results attributed her death to the combined toxic effects of fentanyl and several other drugs; the autopsy found no contributing trauma.
