Sen. Chris Murphy Hospitalized After Stroke, Recovery Expected
Connecticut Democratic Sen. Chris Murphy, 53, started experiencing numbness in his arm while at his son's hockey game on Saturday. He was taken to a local hospital where a stroke was diagnosed and transferred to Johns Hopkins for further monitoring. Allison Herwitt, his chief of staff, said in a statement on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, that the doctors are encouraged by his progress, he is awake and alert, and we are optimistic he will make a full recovery. Murphy had been campaigning for midterm candidates and was scheduled to attend events in New Hampshire that Sunday. Contested none found. Monitoring and recovery continue at Johns Hopkins.
