Measles Cases Prompt Exposure Alerts in Iowa, Nashville
Health officials are tracing measles exposures in Wisconsin, Iowa and Tennessee amid a broader U.S. resurgence. In Wisconsin, a confirmed case may have exposed people at Marshfield Medical Center–Weston’s emergency department on Nov. 5, and officials planned a vaccination clinic for Nov. 8. Iowa has reported 50 cases in 2026, mostly in southern Iowa; 48 involved people who were unvaccinated or whose vaccination status was unknown, and officials identified exposure sites including the Keokuk Hy-Vee and Mitchell County Regional Health Center, visited Oct. 29 and 30. Nashville confirmed its second reported case this year in an unvaccinated person who had traveled internationally and may have exposed others at a Halloween party, businesses and health-care facilities. People who may have been exposed should monitor for symptoms and call a health-care provider before seeking care; officials emphasize vaccination to prevent measles and its potentially serious complications.
