Healthcare Career Programs Reach High School Students
Health organizations and schools are introducing high school students to the range of careers and education pathways in health care through career fairs, conferences and structured programs. Covenant Health’s fair featured more than 20 professions and four post-secondary institutions, emphasizing that many roles do not require a university degree. In Houston, a University of Houston and Texas Southern University program offered students clinical shadowing, research and exposure to fields including medicine, nursing and social work. Sanford Health’s North Dakota conference and a HOSA leadership event in Texas also used hands-on activities and workshops to help students explore health-care careers and connect with peers and professionals.
