New York awarded grants through a $32.5 million state program to three nonprofit healthcare facilities in the Capital Region, supporting workforce training and efforts to address staffing shortages. In Wisconsin’s Chippewa Valley, three nonprofits received more than $175,000 combined for community services, including dental care for low-income residents and support for people experiencing homelessness. Missouri’s University of Missouri School of Medicine received $6.4 million in federal funding to expand rural child behavioral-health and maternal-health services, including provider consultations and training. In northern New England, two organizations received $119,705 to build community-based birth-worker and healthcare networks and improve coordinated care for pregnant and parenting women, as rural maternity services face continued closures.
