Heavy rain, flash-flood risk expected across South Texas
A storm system is expected to bring widespread rain to South Central and South Texas from Saturday into Monday, with most areas forecast to receive about 1 to 3 inches and isolated totals potentially exceeding 5 inches. The heaviest downpours are expected Sunday, when already-saturated ground could increase runoff and the risk of localized flash flooding, especially around low-lying areas, roads and creeks. San Antonio and communities south toward the Coastal Bend and Rio Grande Valley are among the areas forecast to see significant rain. Cooler, cloudy conditions will persist through Monday before skies clear and temperatures rebound Tuesday.
