Heintschel sets ACC touchdown record as Pitt routs Miami 59-14

Pittsburgh opened the 2026 season with a 59-14 victory over Miami (Ohio), powered by sophomore quarterback Mason Heintschel’s record-setting performance. Heintschel completed 31 of 41 passes for 453 yards and seven touchdowns, tying Pete Gonzalez’s Pitt single-game record from 1997 while setting an ACC record. His touchdown passes went to seven different receivers, including Cataurus “Blue” Hicks, who led the Panthers with 114 receiving yards and caught a 53-yard score. Pitt totaled 646 yards of offense, while its defense held Miami to 289 yards and one second-half touchdown. The Panthers improved to 1-0 and will host UCF next Saturday.
