Highway Projects Near Completion Across North America
The Highway 22 reconstruction between Mankato and Saint Peter is nearly complete, with the detour scheduled to be lifted by 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 23. The project rebuilt the highway and added a roundabout near Kasota, more than 80 turn and passing lanes, and bridge and other safety improvements. Crews also began preparing for a future trail connecting the cities, including grading and a pedestrian underpass, but trail paving and a bridge over the rail corridor remain unfunded. MnDOT says the work will improve safety, pavement conditions and traffic flow; the project was awarded to Mathiowetz Construction for about $36.9 million.
