HII Marks Production Milestone for 10 Navy USVs

HII marked a production milestone for its ROMULUS 151, the first vessel in a planned U.S. Navy fleet of 10 medium unmanned surface vessels, at a Louisiana ceremony where officials installed a commemorative hull plaque. Construction involves Gulf Coast partners and is intended to support the regional maritime workforce while advancing the Navy’s autonomous capabilities. The modular, AI-enabled vessels are designed for missions including surveillance, mine countermeasures, strike operations, and deploying or recovering aerial and underwater drones. In Navy-monitored testing, the autonomy system completed a 420-nautical-mile mission over 28 hours.
