Hinton Jury Begins Deliberations in Deputy’s Killing
The jury is set to begin deliberations Wednesday in the trial of Rodney Hinton Jr., accused of intentionally driving into and killing Hamilton County Deputy Larry Henderson in May 2025. Prosecutors say vehicle data and video show Hinton waited for traffic to clear and steered toward Henderson, while the defense argues he was trying to crash into a utility pole and did not intend to kill the deputy. The crash occurred hours after Hinton watched body-camera footage of his son’s fatal shooting by a Cincinnati police officer; the defense also cited Hinton’s severe mental illness and argued he was experiencing acute psychotic symptoms. Jurors may consider charges including aggravated murder and the lesser offense of reckless homicide.
