Hitachi Energy Plans $528M Mississippi Factory, 654 Jobs

Hitachi Energy will invest $528 million to build a new transformer manufacturing facility in Copiah County, Mississippi, creating 654 jobs. The project, the company’s largest U.S. investment, includes a 45-acre site, new production equipment and infrastructure improvements, and will expand domestic manufacturing capacity for small power transformers. Construction is expected to begin later this year, with production scheduled to start in 2029. The expansion is intended to meet rising electricity demand across North America and strengthen the domestic supply chain for critical grid infrastructure. Mississippi officials and Trump administration energy leaders presented the investment as a boost to American manufacturing and the nation’s energy infrastructure.
