Home Price Cuts Rise Across Markets
Home sellers in several markets are cutting asking prices as buyers become more cautious, homes take longer to sell and affordability pressures persist. In the United States, price reductions reached a record share of listings in Redfin’s tracking period, with increases in Southern California; Colorado had the nation’s highest share in August, led by Denver, amid elevated inventory and high mortgage rates. In South East Queensland, agents say buyers are resisting prices they consider too high, and sellers who delay adjusting may face falling interest and lower odds of a sale. In Stowmarket, England, sellers reduced initial asking prices by an average of about £9,449 over the year to September 2026. Across these reports, agents and analysts say realistic pricing that reflects current buyer expectations is increasingly important, though some sellers are choosing to withdraw listings rather than accept less.
