Homeless Counts Rise in Texas, Nevada
Homelessness is rising in Caldwell County, where the 2026 point-in-time count identified 248 people, including 102 children—up from 77 people and 27 children the year before. The Caldwell County Homeless Coalition connects residents with essentials and services such as temporary housing, food, transportation, identification and employment assistance. In Clark County, Nevada, more than 8,800 people were counted as homeless, a 12% increase from 2024; a Las Vegas Project Homeless Connect event brought more than 800 attendees together with 125 providers offering housing help, legal aid, meals, health services and other support. A Portland resident also described being expelled from the city’s Homeless Services Center after attempting to raise concerns about disability-law compliance, underscoring the difficulties some people face in seeking help.
