Hot Rod Reunion Draws Global Drag Racing Fans

Two drag-racing reunions celebrated the sport’s history and community. Oswego’s annual reunion brought classic-car owners together to remember the Oswego Drag Raceway, which operated from 1955 to 1979; attendees shared personal memories, including some who watched racing there and others who wished they had. At Famoso Dragstrip, the California Hot Rod Reunion drew racers and fans from around the world for nostalgia racing, including Top Fuel, Funny Cars and Fuel Altereds, alongside car shows, a swap meet and other activities. Friday qualifying began before rain cut short the action, after testing and opening events earlier in the weekend. Organizers and participants described the gathering as both a celebration of racing and an opportunity to reconnect and remember people from the sport.
