Housing nonprofits advance projects across four states
Housing nonprofits are advancing affordable-home initiatives through construction, veteran-focused programs and community fundraising. ECHO delivered four small homes in Myrtle Beach for homeless and income-eligible veterans, with applications to be handled through the Coordinated Entry System after landscaping. In Lansing, Habitat for Humanity Capital Region began a Pride Build, bringing LGBTQ+ volunteers and allies together to help construct the first two homes in a planned 10-home neighborhood; Marquette County Habitat also held its first Veterans Build. Habitat for Humanity of Greater Plymouth is nearing completion of its 17th home, intended for a single mother and Navy veteran, while its annual gala will raise support for the organization’s housing work. Rogue Valley Habitat for Humanity opened a larger ReStore facility whose proceeds support affordable housing in the area.
