Houston WNBA franchise unveils updated logos ahead of 2027 return
The Houston Comets unveiled a modernized identity ahead of the franchise’s return to the WNBA in 2027, following the Connecticut Sun’s relocation to Houston under the Fertitta family’s ownership. The new logos retain the team’s red, navy and silver palette and feature an upward-slanting “H” crossed by a basketball comet, with four stars honoring Houston’s four consecutive championships from 1997 to 2000. The designs draw on the original franchise’s legacy while introducing updated lettering and imagery; league rules prevented the team from simply reusing its former primary logo. Trademark filings provided a preview of the branding before the public reveal, while the Comets’ right to use the team name remains under review amid a dispute with another applicant.
