Houston Shelter Still Holds Nine Dogs From 42 Dumped
Oceana, a three-year-old Houston terrier mix who raised her puppies in a shelter before they were adopted, is still waiting for a home; her profile says she is vaccinated, spayed, good with children and can do well with other dogs after careful introductions. Separately, most of 42 dogs dumped near Shady Lane Park in north Houston were quickly placed with adopters, fosters or rescue groups, but some still needed homes; police are investigating the dumping, and rescuers noted that hundreds of other animals remain at the city shelter. In Pennsylvania, Go Dogs Go Rescue is seeking committed adopters for three urgent dogs—Lilith, Peach and Dolly—so it can bring them out of animal control. Three Staten Island dogs are also seeking homes: affectionate Doodlebug, fearful S’More, who needs patient handling, and older Walter, who requires care for a skin condition. In Opelousas, Patchy and Jeff are available for adoption through St. Landry Parish Animal Control.
