Hunters Rescued in Four Search Operations

Search-and-rescue teams in New York, Utah, Montana and New Zealand recently brought hunters to safety in separate incidents. In Brasher, New York, rescuers used coordinates from an emergency call to locate an overdue hunter on state forest land. Near Lily Lake in Utah, a hunter who accidentally shot himself in the foot was flown to a hospital by Wyoming Life Flight; officials said Wyoming crews bill Summit County for assistance. In Montana’s Absaroka Range, a helicopter-assisted team stabilized and evacuated a hunter with possible leg and ankle fractures, while in New Zealand’s Warawara Forest, a missing hunter was found barefoot and dehydrated after an overnight search and escorted back to safety.
