Hunting and Trail Closures Set Across Three States
North Dakota is prohibiting white-tailed doe harvest in units 3C, 3E1, 3E2 and 3F2 amid an ongoing epizootic hemorrhagic disease outbreak, with the restriction applying across regular hunting seasons. About 350 existing doe licenses in those units will be refunded; hunters in 13 additional units can voluntarily return eligible licenses for refunds and restored bonus points. The restrictions do not affect antlered-whitetail licenses, and some antlerless licenses may be limited to mule deer does. Officials say the measures are intended to help the herd recover, as reports describe roughly 400 dead deer and the state’s deer-license allocation is already at a 50-year low.
