Huntsville opens 1.3-mile Meek Greenway linking community to Alabama A&M
Huntsville has opened the 1.3-mile Meek Greenway, a paved trail connecting Sparkman Drive with the area near Alabama A&M University. Named for Opal Meek, a longtime advocate for North Huntsville, the trail offers residents and students a place to walk, run and cycle while improving connections between the community and the university. A final 0.35-mile segment and connector road to the campus are planned to begin construction in spring 2027. City leaders say the project advances Huntsville’s broader goal of building a connected greenway network.
