Hyundai Recalls 94,622 Genesis Vehicles Over Fire Risk
Hyundai is recalling 94,622 Genesis sedans after a faulty or stuck power-seat control switch was found to potentially keep the seat motor running, causing it to overheat and start a fire while the vehicle is parked or being driven. The recall covers 2015–2016 Genesis and 2017–2020 Genesis G80 models. The NHTSA advises owners to park affected vehicles outdoors and away from other vehicles and structures until repairs are completed; Hyundai is still developing a remedy. The agency’s report cited at least two related U.S. vehicle fires, and owner notification letters are expected to be mailed in December.
