IAG Completes €500 Million Buyback Program

International Airlines Group has completed its second €500 million share buyback program, acquiring 97,747,488 ordinary shares, or about 2.12% of its issued share capital. The shares are being held in treasury pending cancellation, which was approved by shareholders and is intended to reduce IAG’s share capital. Combined with a €500 million program completed in May, IAG has now repurchased €1 billion of shares under its broader €1.5 billion plan to return excess cash to shareholders. The buybacks were conducted under applicable market and listing rules, while analysts cited IAG’s strong cash generation and valuation alongside risks including leverage, fuel costs and margin pressure.
