Ice Cream Events Span US, Canadian Communities
Ice cream is at the center of several community and campus stories: North Carolina State University’s Howling Cow grew from a research project into a beloved campus brand, while its dairy farm continues to support education and outreach. In Bonners Ferry, a community ice cream social brought residents together after wildfire concerns postponed Kootenai River Days, with six local vendors serving treats. A D-Spot Dessert Cafe in Burlington plans to offer free mini scoops for National Dessert Day, and Penn State’s Ice Cream Mile invites participants to alternate running laps and eating Berkey Creamery ice cream. Together, the stories show how ice cream features in local traditions, promotions and community events.
